19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.
His defensive strategy and recurring reactions on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to push for a decider.
Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
